Life is short. In particular, it’s far too short to spend your entire life trying to remove body hair.
Yet that’s exactly what most of us do.Imagine if you could total up all the hours you spent shaving your legs in the shower. The number would probably make your eyes water.
Imagine what you could do with all of that time back. You’d get so much done.
If you’re tired of the dreary, endless cycle of waxing and shaving, waxing and shaving, you may be pleased to know that there’s another solution. One much more long term than a disposable razor or a bottle of Veet.
IPL hair removal treatments are finally available in Bideford – and the only place you’ll find them is right here at Beauty and the Bleach.
Not to brag
Anyway, as these treatments are totally new to the salon, we thought we’d do a bit of an introduction to them.
If you’re looking for a longer term hair removal solution, keep on reading to learn all there is to know about these treatments.
IPL stands for intense pulsed light. It uses pulses of light which are directed at the root of the hair. This produces heat which reduces or eliminates hair growth.
IPL can be used on any area of the body, or across the whole body. That said, it doesn’t work for everyone. IPL is most effective on dark hair – it won’t have the same results on grey, blonde, or ginger hair.
IPL isn’t just for hair removal; it’s actually used to treat a number of different skin conditions as well. IPL can help to eliminate or reduce the effects of rosacea, acne, thread veins, skin pigmentation and age spots.
There isn't one. IPL is a form of laser removal, it just uses a different kind of light than the much more powerful laser often referred to by ‘laser removal.
Typical laser hair removal uses a more powerful type of light, so it can be a bit more effective and targeted than IPL can at reducing body hair. However, IPL is generally most cost-effective, and tends to be a cheaper option. Also, IPL is a more comfortable treatment to receive – laser hair removal isn’t necessarily painful but it is uncomfortable.
Technically, no, IPL isn’t a permanent treatment. It’s more of a semi-permanent solution, designed to reduce the amount of body hair on your body, but the number of further treatments you’ll need will vary person-to-person.
See, firstly, the effectiveness of IPL depends on a couple of different factors – hair colour for instance, like we mentioned before. It’s also worth noting that whilst IPL can remove and reduce hair, big changes in your hormones such as menopause and pregnancy could trigger it to come back, which is why we can’t call it permanent in case this happens.
IPL is also more effective the more courses you get. You can have a single IPL session or a series of them; here at Beauty & The Bleach, we tend to offer them in courses of four or six.
Secondly, IPL doesn’t guarantee ‘removal’ as such. The results are different for everyone, and will vary depending on both your hair and your skin. If you have dark hair, and you go through the full six courses, it’s likely that IPL will work well for you, but again, we can’t guarantee this.
The effects of IPL can also be reversed by major hormonal changes, particularly pregnancy or menopause.
Contrary to popular belief, IPL isn’t just a treatment that the ladies used. Men can also massively benefit from the effects of IPL – for hair removal, as well as for rosacea or acne. The guidelines are generally the same, and men have the same capabilities for good results as women do.
Here at Beauty and the Bleach we proudly offer a shame-free, confidence-boosting setting for men. If you are feeling a bit on the shy side, you can use our salon’s side entrance.
Here at the salon we offer single sessions of IPL, as well as sessions in courses of four or six.
We’re currently offering IPL for both men and women at an absolute bargain price, to celebrate this treatment’s arrival in Bideford.
So, for a limited time only, book in with us for IPL and receive 30% off all sessions. The 30% discount applies for single sessions as well as the multiple courses – so it’s a great time to take the plunge if you’ve been considering IPL.
It’s crucial that you get a consultation. Without you coming in for this beforehand, we won’t be able to offer this treatment, so don’t even try. No exceptions!
Consultations will last around 30 minutes and come with a skin patch test through the machine included and as it takes a portion of our time to do this the consultations are priced at £30 each. For the full price list, click here.
In the meantime, if there’s anything else you want to know about IPL – shoot us a message. We can’t wait to see you in the salon.
