So here we are. Lockdown 2! It’s been so disheartening that we’ve had to close again after all of the effort we went to make our salon a safe environment so our clients and team could feel comfortable following the last round of restriction easing. Whilst we’ve been disappointed to have to shut our doors again and rearrange so many appointments, we’re very much looking forward to reopening in December and ensuring all our clients look and feel great for the festive activities we hope everyone will be able to undertake this year.
As we’re currently closed and not able to see our lovely clients and work our magic on them, we’ve been thinking of things we can do in order to make sure you can keep up your appearances and keep feeling great during this awful lockdown period…So we’ve decided to gather our expert team together and each one of them will provide one tip for either hair or beauty depending on their chosen area of expertise! What better advice could you ask for than from the ladies you put trust in to ensure you look your fabulous self week in and week out.
We feel this is a really important way for us to give back after all the amazing support everyone has given us in what has been a challenging year for businesses everywhere and we hope that by reading this you can find some new tips which help give you that pick me up we all need over lockdown. So without further ado, read on to discover what you can do from home to keep yourself looking and feeling your best self…
Here it is! Our beauty tips for how you can keep yourself in good shape over lockdown and make sure you keep feeling like the amazing you that you are.
Our first tip comes from Lisa! Many of you will know that Lisa is our head beauty therapist and she’s always busy because of how much her clients trust her to make them look incredible.
Lisa Says...
You need to cleanse, tone and moisturise to keep your skin supple and for hydration drink plenty of water! Your skin will thank you for it
Lisa
Really important advice here! Looking after your skin is key to keeping your look and will add to your overall look and compliment any treatments you have done with us after this period. Our next tip comes from our amazing superstar Lara. Lara joined us a trainee and since then has gone on to smash all her courses and qualifications and in December she’s moving on to an advanced lash course after doing so well on her recent lash extension qualification.
Lara says...
If you want to keep your nails looking great but don't have the patience to let them dry, as soon as you're done applying soak your nails in a bowl of ice water and they dry in seconds!
Lara
Next up is our newest recruit Jayne. Jayne has recently joined us to assist Lisa & Lara with our beauty clients, as Lisa is now spending more and more time running our non-surgical treatment side of the business, The BB Clinic. She brings with her a wealth of experience in the beauty industry and she can’t wait to start meeting our clients and building a friendship with them.
Jayne says...
Get into a routine! If you have the time, whether it's 5 minutes or a full hour pamper sesh get in the habit of creating some you time with some skincare in the mornings and evenings and you'll start seeing results. Simple things like using serums, cleansers, toners and moisturisers can all play a big part especially when applied regularly.
Jayne
Hopefully this is all you need to keep you going before we can see you all again, but feel free to reach out to us on Facebook if you have any specific questions for our experts.
Now for your hair… We know this is something all our clients are most worried about when they might have been in need for an appointment in the run up to lockdown. However, there are some things you can do in the meantime in order to keep your hair healthy and in the best possible.
First up to bring you advice is our hair director and salon owner Michaela. Michaela has been working in the hair industry for 20 years and she’s seen and done it all. She’s highly skilled in colour which can be seen in some of the truly amazing transformations we post on Facebook, so it’s worth listening to everything she has to say!
Michaela says…
Point your hair dryer DOWN from root to tip to close the cuticle down to avoid split hairs. When hair dries naturally it makes the cuticle stand up which is what causes split ends.
Michaela
Next up is the amazing Emma. Emma has been with us for 2 years now, first joining as a barber and helping us expand that service before rediscovering her love for hairdressing and becoming a stylist working with our female clients. She now heads up extensions for us and is one of our most popular stylists.
Emma says...
Where possible, please tie your hair up using the band in the picture below. Using anything like the old type bands you’ll find the fabric rubs against your hair and causes major breakage.
Emma
Donna is going to give you her top tip next. Donna recently joined the team after the last lockdown and since she’s come on board has started building her client base. She’s a fantastic hair stylist with loads of experience in the local area.
Donna says...
Whilst washing off your conditioner, at the end rinse with a cold spurt of water as this closes the cuticle and keeps the moisture in your hair.
Donna
Last but not least we have Mel! Mel first joined us as a hairstylist, she's a qualified loctician specialising in dreads and hair extensions. These days she’s more seen in our piercing studio Locked Up but still works with hair and she has the below tip for you this lockdown.
Mel says...
Always use a comb on your hair when it's wet and always use a brush when it's dry.
Mel
So that’s it! Everything you need to keep your hair in healthy shape over the lockdown period.
So there you have our teams tips and tricks to looking and feeling great over this gruelling winter lockdown! We hope it helps you keep looking your best which we all know helps us feel better too, even if it just to look nice for a lockdown date night with the other half.
We know many of you have already booked in for December appointments and we can’t wait to welcome you back once this madness has ended, but in case you missed it we’ve recently just brought on a new beauty therapist to the team in the fantastic Jayne and to celebrate her arrival, we’re offering 15% off beauty treatments booked with Jayne for January AND February! We had planned to offer this during November which is her first full month with her, but a pesky virus got in the way so we’re now offering a double dose in 2021 instead, because we love you.
