It’s that time of year again.
Christmas markets, having a bit too much to drink at the work party, absolutely freezing when you leave the house… ah, the joy of winter.
However, it also means we’re looking ahead to next year. Plans, resolutions, all that jazz. What are yours?
Spending all your time shaving and waxing probably isn’t on the list, is it? Yet it’s definitely something you’re going to have to deal with, alongside little nicks in the shower or sore skin.
Well, what if we told you there’s a way to leave all of that behind in 2022? Yep, it’s true, and it all starts with a nifty little service we’ve been able to add to our repertoire this year: IPL.
What’s IPL?
In case you missed the news, IPL is one of the brand new services the salon started offering this year.
IPL stands for ‘intense pulsed light’. It aims heat and pulses of light at the root of the hair to produce heat, which helps reduce or eliminate hair growth. It can be used to target specific areas of the body, or alternatively across the whole body.
Aside from body hair reduction, IPL is also used to treat, reduce or eliminate rosacea, acne, thread veins, age spots and skin pigmentation.
Why it’s the perfect opportunity to start IPL
Winter is actually prime time to get started with IPL. First of all, your skin is a bit lighter, which means the treatments are more effective; IPL works best on lighter skin because it better focuses on the dark hairs.
While you can have a single IPL session, we always recommend a course of treatments – this produces the best results over time. We’d ideally recommend six sessions, which have to be spaced apart in order to prevent any damage to the skin. So, an additional benefit of starting now is that by summer 2023, your course will be finished and you’ll be done with waxing before the sun comes back out.
Finally, IPL treatments can’t be done 6 weeks before or after a holiday. So, unless you’re jetting off for some winter sun (which would leave us very jealous), now is a good time to get started without compromising next year’s holiday plans.
