Our New Look Hair & Beauty Salon for the New Normal

COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were eased for hair salons (excluding some services) on the 4th July with beauty salons following soon after on 13th July (excluding any treatments which were in the ‘high-risk zone’ classed as treatments in front of the face) which means we are now open and almost running all services again (unfortunately, we still cannot offer treatments on the face as per the latest government guidance dated 31st July). However, it has meant we’ve had to make a number of changes to our practices in the salon, and as we were closed from the 23rd March, we decided to make the most of this time by refurbishing our salon as well as having a brand new website developed, ensuring that we could keep providing the best possible and safest service for our wonderful clients.

What’s New at Beauty & The Bleach Hair & Beauty Salon?

As well as knowing that our salon layout would need some change to accommodate our new PPE and COVID-19 safety measures, we wanted to take the time over lockdown to create a new, fresh look for our hair & beauty salon which would allow us more space whilst not losing our unique decorative charm we’ve always worked so hard to provide.

We started by knocking down the wall which previously separated our now closed piercing studio from our hair salon, creating a larger space for hair where we could ensure a safe distance between our clients as well as accommodating plastic screen dividers between our salon chairs for added protection. From there, we began work on redecorating, giving a new lease of life to the hair salon including painting and implementing a deep clean to provide the highest levels of hygiene on reopening. Our barbers is now in our main hair salon space and we’ve also made some decorative changes to our beauty salon which provides a safe, comfortable environment where you can once again enjoy one of our amazing beauty treatments.

We’ve also had to introduce some new measures for clients arriving for appointments, such as using our side entrance for direct access to the beauty salon, clients arriving at the hair salon now need to ring the bell and wait outside (seating is provided) until invited in and we also have hand sanitising stations at our entrances where clients are asked to sanitise before entering the salon. All staff have protective visors and other PPE for ours and your protection as well as undertaking and qualifying in new training measures specifically for COVID-19 safety requirements. As well as the salon itself, we also took the time over lockdown to give our website a fresh new look, updating our design as well as the user experience, where we hope you’ll find it much easier to navigate to find the information you’re looking for, book an appointment or simply get an idea of the high standard of work we carry out with every hair and beauty treatment with our image galleries. What treatments can you book for at Beauty & The Bleach?

Whilst we’ve been able to reopen and offer the majority of our treatments, there are still some services which we cannot offer until government guidance is updated.

All hair treatments are being offered, aside from dry cuts which we unfortunately still cannot offer. But if you were hoping to book in to tame your lockdown locks with a wet cut, hair colouring or hair extensions these are all very much being offered. Booking is absolutely essential and we’d recommend doing so ASAP to get our next available slot.

Our beauty salon reopened offering all treatments aside from those which were classed as in the ‘high-risk zone’ by government guidance, so unfortunately we still cannot offer any treatments which require us to work on the face, meaning facials, lash treatments and any other treatments involving the face (including head massage and facial waxing) are still unavailable. In the meantime though, most nail, waxing, massage, and spray tanning treatments are all up and running and ready to book for.

Non-surgical treatments are being offered aside from the CACI Face-Lift as this conflicts with government guidance, but you can still book in for routine maintenance or Jowel/Buttock maintenance. We’re also very excited to announce that our wonderful beauty therapist Lisa has been working hard over lockdown qualifying in a new non-surgical treatment which we think will excite all her current clients, or any potential new clients in the Bideford and surrounding areas who are interested in what benefits non-surgical treatments can offer them. As we have refurbished and analysed what treatments we offer, we have unfortunately had to make the difficult decision to discontinue some services we’ve previously offered, but all for the greater good. As the barbershop is now in our main hair salon, we’re no longer offering wet shaves for beards, however, we can still offer light beard trims using clippers. We’ve also made the decision to no longer offer our Red Light Therapy service, but full and half body spray tanning is still very much available too.

Needless to say, we’ve been rather busy during this ‘downtime’ period! Our client satisfaction is always our number one priority, whether that be in the final result of your treatment or your comfort and safety in coming to see us, so whilst we’ve had to put in a lot of hard work to get to a point we can reopen, it’s all been totally worth it.

Since we reopened on the 4th July, we’ve been extremely busy, with a fully booked hair salon and fully booked beauty salon each and every week and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The feedback we’ve had from our clients has been overwhelmingly positive and we’d like to thank each and every one of you for your patience as we adapt to the ‘new normal’ in these changing times.
